Dawson’s Creek: looking back at the cast of the quintessential teen show

Dawson’s Creek was the quintessential coming-of-age TV show for the late 90s and early 2000s. The show, about 4 young people growing up in Capeside, Massachusetts, broke new ground and for many it was THE program to watch in their teenage years and twenties.

One of the first gay kisses to be broadcast in prime time in America’s history took place on Dawson’s Creek and that helped seal the show’s special place in American hearts.

The last episode aired in 2003 but what has happened to the stars in the years following? Let’s find out now.

Dawson – James Van Der Beek

James Van Der Beek was the eponymous star of the show and today he’s still starring in multiple television shows. He was in How I Met Your Mother and is the Senior Field Agent, Elijah Munro, in CSI: Cyber. Unusually, he also played a fictional character based on himself in Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23.

Jen – Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams, who played Jen, one of the four core cast members, was in a relationship with Heath Ledger before his tragic death. She’s also gone on to a serious acting career and won the Golden Globe for the Best Actress in My Week With Marilyn in which she starred as Marilyn Monroe.

Jack – Kerr Smith

Kerr Smith was the guy who had one of TV’s first gay kisses as Jack. He’s also still working in the industry and has been one of the stars of The Fosters and The News. Jack’s also the co-owner of a beer brand which he owns with his best friend and co-founder. It’s the Venice Beach Beer Company.
